Nordic Textile Meeting in Iceland - Materials and Methods, June 5 -8, 2024.
Dear members and Textile Enthusiasts. This year it is set in the picturesque landscape of Northern Iceland from June 5th to June 8th, 2024.

Nordic textile meeting, surrounded by the majestic nature of Iceland. Located in Northern Iceland, at Blönduós, Akureyri and in Eyjafjörður.

The Nordic Textile Meeting is organised by Nordic Textile Art and the Icelandic Textile Association, in collaboration with Icelandic Textile Center. NTA are very happy about this cooperation and collaboration and that we can share common resources.

Time, 5 - 8 June 2024
Place: Blönduós, Akureyri and in Eyjafjörður - in the north area of Iceland.

The journey starts with a bus from Reykjavik early morning on June 5^th, 2024 and then back to Reykjavik again late on June 8^th.

5th June Miðvikudagur: Textile Adventure and Nature

08:00-12:00 Bus journey from Reykjavík to Blönduós
12:00-13:00 Lunch and Welcome at Kvennaskólinn, Blönduós
13:00-16:00 Visit to the Textile Center, Textile Lab and Textile Museum at Blönduós
16:30-19:00 Bus from Blönduós to Hotel Natur in Eyjafjörður
19:30 Dinner at Hotel Natur

6th June Fimmtudagur: Cultural Exploration and Art

08:30-10:30 Laufás farm - Museum and Heritage site
11:00-12:30 Safnasafnið - The Icelandic Folk and Outsider Museum
12.30-14:00. Lunch at Hotel Natur
16:00-17:00 Dyngja Art Gallery and an outdoor exhibition; the Hidden People
19:00-22:00 Celebration dinner at Leifshús Hotel and Textile Talk

7th June Föstudagur: Artistic Ventures and Local Culture

8:30-12:00 Visit to Hjalteyri, Lene Zachariassen’s art and Verksmiðjan Hjalteyri Art Gallery
12:30-14:00 Lunch in Akureyri
14:00-14:45 Textile exhibition at Margrét Jónsdóttir’s ceramic studio in Akureyri, artist Íris Ólöf
15:00-16:30 Akureyri Art Museum
16:30-17:30 Free time in Akureyri, with a list of ideas to visit local artist studios and shops
17:30/20:30 Bus from Akureyri to Hotel Natur. First bus leaves at 17:30 and the second bus at 20:30 for those who like to have dinner at Akureyri and take the bus back later.

8th June (Laugardagur): From North to South

8:30-10:00 Nordic Textile Art general meeting at Hotel Natur.
10:00-11:30 Textile Talks, Icelandic artists and designers will introduce their art and projects.
11.30-12:30 Lunch at Hotel Natur
12:30. Bus from Hotel Natur in Eyjafjörður to Reykjavik with a stop in Blönduós
15:30-16:30 Knitting Festival marketplace - all about yarn and textile, and coffe)
16:30-19:30 Bus from Blönduós to Reykjavík Bus Terminal

Nordic Textile meeting - events: Participation in all events are included in the conference fee; museums and studio visits.

Nordic Textile meeting - transport: NTA offers a bus tour from Reykjavík to Northern Iceland on June 5th and back on June 8th, with "textile stops" along the way. Bus transport during the 6th and 7th of June, in Eyjafjordur area is also included. Participants traveling with their own or rented car, can follow along and join in the events.

Nordic Textile meeting - accommodation:

Hotel Natur Rooms at this hotel are reserved for guests who travel with the bus. Price is 28.000 a night for a double room (14.000 per person) with breakfast. Please note that there is a limited number of rooms, share rooms if you can. Rooms will be filled in order of booking. Booking is open until April 30th. Mention Nordic Textile meeting in subject. Hotel Kjarnalundur offers accommodation in 5 summerhouses with 3 bedrooms each. The bus will also pick up guests from this hotel. Price is 22.000 kr. for a double room per night (11.000 per night if you share a room), breakfast and dinner can be bought at the hotel.
