NORDIC TEXTILE MEETING IN BERGEN 2027 - WEAVING THE PAST INTO THE FUTURE
Nordic Textile Meeting in Norway - Weaving the past into the future. NTA conference in Bergen 11.-14. April 2027.
Nordic Textile Meeting in Bergen will be held in several locations. Some locations have already been selected, while the rest will fall into place as soon as we have received funding for the conference. A more accurate program will be available at the end of December.

“Weaving the past into the future” – The seminar program will focus on history, textile history and of course how it is used in modern forms. The plan is also to arrange workshops that extend to a full day. We also include other workshops than weaving. One of the workshops will continue after the end of the conference, at a weaving mill where samples and textiles can be woven.
The conference will bring together textile artists, researchers, educators, students and others interested in professional exchange, practical work and meetings in and with Bergen's textile art community. Through lectures and practical activities, the relationship between historical textile art and contemporary artistic practices is examined. Central themes are materiality, technology, knowledge transfer and the relationship between practical craft knowledge and academic research. Older projects that have had an impact on the development of our profession in the Nordic countries, and current issues such as innovation or reconstructions of relatively new art that must be replaced in museums and national buildings. The conference will also present artists who are further developing both traditional and digital weaving as an artistic tool in collaboration with industry and research environments. The conference will show the breadth and expertise in the textile community in Bergen and Western Norway.
