Join us for an evening exploring Finnish textile art and Nordic textile artists in New York.
On the program:
TEXO 70 – Colour, exhibition and a new book
An introduction to the Finnish Association of Textile Artists TEXO and its 70th-anniversary celebrations, including the exhibition at Galleria Himmelblau in Tampere, curated by Taina Myllyharju around the theme of colour.
We will also hear about the new anniversary publication Koko kirjo. Edited by Maria Rivera-Pessi, this richly illustrated book explores colour in Finnish textile art and design through works by more than 90 artists.
The Cold Stitch – Nordic textile art in New York
Curator Ragna Fróða will introduce The Cold Stitch, presented as part of the annual Textile Takeover at Scandinavia House during New York Textile Month in September 2026. Bringing together 16 Nordic artists, the exhibition explored stitching as a language of memory, care, repair and transformation.
The presentations will be followed by questions and discussion, moderated by Laura Isoniemi.
